What:

PrideWars is a pot-luck picnic and outdoor lasertag party for friends in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans community.  We’re going to form 6 teams, and play 12 minute games of high-tech capture-the-flag in a beautiful 5 acre wooded area in Junipero Serra Park in San Bruno. 

We provide the latest outdoor commercial lasertag equipment and radio headsets to communicate for each player.  The lasertag equipment we use is incredible!  It has a range of over 1,000' and a radio-based hit-confirmation that shows players score in real-time.  Everyone will experience an hour of exciting game time, and 4 hours of partying, mingling, having a pot-luck lunch, and meeting other fabulous people in the pride community!

The hills in this beautiful park are somewhat steep.  You’re going to have other LGBT people shooting at you as you attempt to steal their flag away from them.  You’re going to hear your teammates scream for help over your radio headset.  By the end of this party you’ll be exhausted and exhilarated.  It will be the most fun you’ve had in a long time!  No lasertag experience necessary.  “Pridewars” is a picnic party for anyone in the gay pride community!

Where

“Pridewars” takes place at a the Iris Point Picnic area in Junipero Serra Park. 

The Game

We will be playing high-tech Capture-the-flag games using commercial-grade Battlefieldsports outdoor lasertag equipment rented from specopsliveplay Oakdale CA.  Our private games will take place in a 5 acre wooded area near the group picnic area.  We’ll be renting two-way radio headsets for every player so you’ll be in constant communication with your teammates.  Just like previous events, we’ll form 6 teams of 6-12 players, keeping the same teams throughout the afternoon.  Each team will play an 8-minute warm-up game, followed by 4 12-minute games during the 5 hour event.

No lasertag experience is necessary.  Lasertag is strategic game that’s easy to learn and it’s fun for everyone.
 

The Party: 

Between games we will enjoy a pot-luck picnic and mingle and party with other LGBT people.  There will be music and fun times.  Fresh Lemonade and water will be provided.  The rest of the food will be Potluck, so please bring your signature dish!  There will be a veg BBQ and non-veg BBQs.  There are several available grills at our picnic site, along with lots of actual picnic tables.
 

Cost:

$40 per player to cover the lasertag and radio equipment rental costs, park permit costs.  Please register early as this event will sell out.  Space is very limited- we can have a maximum of 72 people playing.  You may register alone or in groups of up to 6 people, if you want to play on the same team.  Spectators are welcome to attend for free, but should still register since our permit has a maximum number of people that are allowed.  Register soon since this event is filling up fast!

Volunteers:

If you'd like to particpate but $40 is too much, we have a few volunteer positions available, where you help setup, cleanup, and help ref games in exchange for free registration.  Volunteer call-time is 10am for this event to help prep the equipment and clean the field.  Email me if you're interested in becoming a volunteer for PrideWars. 

Getting Here:

Driving and BART directions will be posted shortly.  Players taking public transit can ride bart to San Bruno.  The carpool meets at San Bruno Bart at 11:40am.
